Radio Control Helicopter Wins Oscar

Congratulations to the HoverCam team for winning an Oscar in the Scientific & Technical category in last night’s 2013 Oscars! We had the privilege of meeting these guys last year at 2013 NAB Show when they were displaying this technology and the shooting they had just completed for a couple of major films.

To Gifford Hooper and Philip George of HoverCam for the continuing development of the Helicam miniature helicopter camera system.
The current Helicam system is a high-speed, extremely maneuverable, turbine-engine, radio-controlled miniature helicopter that supports professional film and digital cinema cameras. Helicam provides a wide range of stabilized, remotely operated pan, tilt and roll capabilities, achieving shots impossible for full-size helicopters.

Water Sports Action

Here is a passion project Capturing water sports from the air & brings the action to life like never before! The super wide lens makes it look big but believe it or not, we shot everything under 100ft AGL! We spent an evening with MN Inboard out on Lake Minnetonka shooting a couple of professional wakeboarders behind two 2013 Malibu Wakesetters. These guys and gal put on a heck of a performance for us and the boats were equally as impressive! Enjoy the slow motion footage as well. Everything was shot using SONY NEX-7 and SONY FS700.
